ICMIF provides training for members at every level. The Federation has a commitment to its members to assist in training for not only cooperative and mutual principles but also global management practices. In order to fulfil this commitment, ICMIF developed three computer-based business simulations for non-life insurance, life assurance and non-life reinsurance, and these have been successfully run for members and non-members for over ten years. Although those business simulations are still in regular use, technology has advanced enormously since they were first developed. With this in mind, and based on the valuable feedback we have received from the users of our simulations over the years, we are developing a new generation of products that will bring even greater learning opportunities for our members. The new products will run on a new insurance learning platform called Agile, which has been developed by our partner, The Simulation Business. Agile is a web-based simulation platform that allows the creation of very specific learning situations, which can be delivered as classroom-style events or for individuals sitting at their own desks. Agile has the capability to deliver tailor-made simulation exercises for virtually any insurance scenario. The exercises can also be developed so that they use real company and country data. One of the key benefits of this form of learning is that it allows insurance professionals to practice doing their jobs in a “safe” environment. ICMIF firmly believes that this means of “learning by doing” can become a very important tool for members to use to ensure that staff are better equipped to deal with the challenges faced in their respective markets. |
